Oblation Aid
Generous contributions from around the world to the abolish poverty, end suffering mission initiative are used in part to help Community of Christ individuals and families
meet their basic living needs.
Membership and active participation in the life of the church are desirable for those receiving oblation aid based on the following realities:
- The resources of oblation are extremely limited when compared with the needs of the many persons resident in the communities where the church is established.
- Local, state, and federal governments provide welfare programs, supported by personal tax dollars, to meet many of the needs normally addressed by oblation.
- On a case-by-case basis, aid can be extended to include inactive members, nonmembers who have close ties with the church, or persons with whom the church or its members may be involved in ministry.
Your local Pastor or Congregational Financial Officer (CFO) can help to guide those who may be in need of financial support through the oblation request process.
Start a Food Pantry
Congregational, faith, and community-based organizations desiring to provide outreach services through food pantry projects should consider if they want to initiate a new
food pantry service or support an existing one. Key to the decision is the organization’s ability to foster and sustain the necessary financial and volunteer resources. Please
use this guide to help your organization decide how to move forward with your food pantry project.
